Dr. Jeff Larsen is an audiologist and researcher who received a bachelor\u2019s degree from Utah State University and a master\u2019s degree in Audiology, also from Utah State. He received his PhD in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Dr. Larsen has held full-time faculty positions at Eastern Illinois University and Utah State University and also has held adjunct positions at Illinois State University, the University of Utah, and the University of Pretoria in South Africa. The focus of his research during his academic career has been classroom acoustics, speech perception, and signal processing in hearing aids.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has also been involved with research concerning balance and concussions, he jointly owns a patent for intra-body communication for hearing aid processing, and has provided clinical audiology services in hospitals, private practice, and university clinics. He has served as the President of the Utah Speech and Hearing Association, been the Chair of the Joint Committee for State and National Relations at the American Speech and Hearing Association as well as serving on several advisory boards for both professional and private organizations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2017, the United Nations honored the work of Bill Austin and as part of the celebration, Dr. Larsen was invited to speak on a panel for the first-ever meeting at the United Nations concerning Ear and Hearing Care. He has volunteered for the Starkey Hearing Foundation for more than 6 years and joined the foundation full time as the Chief Programs Officer (CPO) in May of 2019. The foundation closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Dr. Larsen decided to focus his skills on helping people in his hometown of Salt Lake City. In his private life, Dr. Larsen is married to Anne Dagostino and they have 6 children together. He played basketball in college and professionally for one year in Switzerland. He loves traveling, hiking, camping, repelling, fishing, and he speaks French and American Sign Language and loves working to find communication solutions for people with hearing loss.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
